REVIEW: Mae Young Classic Episode Eight

Posted in Reviews

The Mae Young Classic features 32 of the most talented female professional wrestlers from all over the globe.  Those 32 women will compete in a tournament on WWE Network.  This is a review of the Mae Young Classic on, reviewing each episode individually.

Our review of the Mae Young Classic continues on with Episode Eight, featuring Shayna Baszler, Mercedes Martinez, Kairi Sane, and Toni Storm.

> This should be a good match.  Shayna and Mercedes have been built up as submission specialists, with take no nonsense “I’m going to beat your ass!” attitudes.  Put the two together in the ring, and we’re going to see a FIGHT!  Great back and forth action between these two, well balanced match.  Mercedes couldn’t last in Shayna’s choke hold, and tapped out, Shayna Baszler moves on to the finals.  Phenomenal work from those ladies.

> Great match here.  I loved the splash from Kairi to the outside on Toni.  The turn-based slugfest between the two was a fun spot.  This match could have gone either way, both of them looked impressive.  I can’t believe Kairi lasted as long as she did in that arm bar, that was intense!  Kairi’s backhand is crazy.  Ultimately it was Kairi Sane to pick up the win after the elbow drop.  Awesome match!

> This has been one of the most diverse tournaments I’ve ever seen in pro wrestling.  The talent involved all deserve respect, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for them all.  I loved the production, the stories told, the commentary, and the in-ring product of the Mae Young Classic.  Nice touch after the matches with Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, and Sara Amato congratulating the winners of the matches.  I certainly hope the WWE continues this as an annual production.  Kairi Sane vs Shayna Baszler will be the matchup in the finals, it airs this Tuesday night, and I can’t wait to see it!

I will be back with a review of the finals after it airs LIVE on the WWE Network on Tuesday, stay tuned folks!
